The Government intervenes in the case of the Calangianus reception center for unaccompanied minors.
A few days after Mayor Fabio Albieri's reports and the requests from the Sassari Prefecture, a formal communication arrived from Rome. According to a document addressed to the Municipality of Calangianus, some of the Center's residents will soon be transferred to other facilities.
The operation became necessary following several incidents in the town of Calangianus. The prefect of Sassari, Carla Di Quattro, had reported public order problems and serious incidents involving some of the facility's residents (assaults, fights, and damage, including at night).
Mayor Fabio Albieri had requested the immediate closure of the Center as an emergency measure to avoid tensions. The humanitarian center will cease operations on December 31st of this year, but, as a precaution, the transfer of the children will begin within a few days. A reduced number of guests will facilitate the Center's operations.
