Change at the top of the Highway Police in Sardinia : Domenico Nicola Chierico , first director of the State Police, is now at the helm of the department. Chierico replaces Giovanni Corrado Marziano , who now holds the position of police commissioner of Oristano . Born in Perugia on 18 July 1965, Chierico graduated in Law from the University of Perugia, in 1992 he won the competition for deputy commissioner and attended the 80th training course. During his career he held various positions, from August 1993 to March 1994 he became deputy director of the Flying Squad of the Nuoro police headquarters, subsequently from March 1993 to May 1999 he directed the Digos of the same police headquarters.

From May 1999 to January 2008 he directed the Organized Crime section of the Flying Squad of the Cagliari Police Headquarters; subsequently, from January 2008 to September 2015 he held the position of director of the Regional Cabinet of Scientific Police in Cagliari. On 1 January 2015 he was promoted to first director of the State Police and attended the XXXI management training course at the Higher School of Police, at the end of which he was assigned to the Nuoro Police Headquarters where he was entrusted with the direction of the Anti-Crime Police division until May 2017.

After a brief period of aggregation to the Cagliari police headquarters for needs related to the G7 of Transport Ministers, he was transferred and first took on the role of director of the Anti-Crime Police division and subsequently became chief of staff. In 2019 he was transferred to the Rovigo police headquarters with the role of deputy, the same one he held from October 2022 until March 31, 2025 at the Savona police headquarters.
