It is forbidden to " leave umbrellas, chairs, tents, or other unattended or unused equipment on public beaches during the day or night." This was stated in the latest ordinance by Castiadas Mayor Eugenio Murgioni, part of a series of measures "to ensure safety, hygiene, and decorum" along the area's beaches. Other major prohibitions include "leaving boats parked that could obstruct free bathing," "camping or setting up tents or shacks of any kind or structure," and "any form of bivouac with sleeping bags, blankets, and the like."
It is also prohibited to "lead dogs or other animals, even if muzzled and on a leash." It is also prohibited to "transit, park, or occupy state-owned maritime areas with motor vehicles of any category, with the exception of vehicles used for institutional, rescue, surveillance, beach maintenance, and cleaning services, or those used in authorized beach nourishment operations."
There's also a ban on smoking, including e-cigarettes. The ordinance covers thirty points in total. Fines for non-compliance range from one hundred to five hundred euros. Just a few days ago, local police fined several tourists for being caught smoking on the beach.
