Behind the lifeguard uniform and the smile of those who work to ensure the safety of swimmers, a far more lucrative and dangerous activity was hidden: cocaine dealing. This is what the Carabinieri of the San Vito Company discovered, who arrested a 26-year-old man last night in the San Pietro area of Castiadas.
The boy, hired as a seasonal worker on one of the busiest beaches on the southeastern coast of Sardinia, was already known to the police.
The military launched the operation after receiving several reports from local residents and business owners. Suspicions arose from strange movements around the accommodation provided by the employer and behaviors inconsistent with the routine of a normal seasonal worker.
The house search, carried out overnight with the support of the Castiadas police station, uncovered nearly 125 grams of cocaine, already divided into doses, two precision scales, packaging materials, and €660 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
The 26-year-old was arrested red-handed for possession of narcotics with intent to sell and, after the usual formalities, was transferred to Uta prison, by order of the judicial authorities.
