A 71-year-old pensioner was crushed to death by his own truck, a Nissan Atleon , which started moving and hit him.
The man was called Pietro Usai , he was originally from Muravera and lived in the Tuerra hamlet, in the municipal territory.
According to investigations carried out by the Carabinieri, coordinated by Captain Pasquale Striano, the pensioner had just returned home: he got out of his vehicle to open the gate, but forgot to apply the parking brake, which then struck him and crashed into the garage wall . He died instantly; his wife raised the alarm.
Rescue efforts were immediate: the Mike 60 ambulance and the 118 emergency medical unit from the Sarrabus health district responded to the scene. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for the man.
The Carabinieri of Sa Vito conducted the investigation. The magistrate on duty ordered the removal of the body, which was handed over to the family for the funeral. The San Vito Fire Department also responded to the accident scene to remove the truck.
