The 14-year-old Roman boy involved in a car accident on Monday on the provincial road to Castelsardo remains in serious condition.

He and his father were in a Cupra driven by a 66-year-old family friend from Terni when the car collided head-on with a Dacia Legacy.

The violent impact occurred near the Lu Bagnu turnoff. Four people were injured. The boy was transferred to Sassari Civil Hospital by air ambulance. His condition worsened late in the evening, so doctors performed surgery on him and then transferred him to the intensive care unit .

The prognosis remains guarded. The driver of the Dacia Legacy, a 63-year-old from Castelsardo, also underwent surgery. The other three injured were treated by emergency medical services and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The Carabinieri of the Valledoria company's mobile radio unit and their colleagues from the Sedini station will determine the details of the accident.

The Valledoria firefighters and local police also intervened on the scene to regulate traffic, which remained blocked for over an hour.
