Carbonia is celebrating a new centenary: Giovanni Cancedda, born on August 7, 1925 in the then Municipality of Serbariu, now a hamlet of Carbonia but 100 years ago a small town that helped give birth to the coal city, has blown out 100 candles .

Giovanni Cancedda was also one of the city's very first bakers, and his small family-run business is still in operation . During his long life with his wife, Rina Piga, who passed away two years ago, Giovanni had seven children, some of whom continued their father's artisanal entrepreneurial activity.
