Carbonia. This morning, the Municipality intervened to drain the gigantic lake that formed six days ago on Via Sicilia following last week's heavy rains. The puddle, covering several dozen square meters, hasn't even begun to drain in recent days due to a leak in a drainage well, which was only temporarily repaired this morning.

This is pending a much more extensive project to upgrade the rainwater drainage system, which the Municipality will likely implement next year thanks to a €500,000 regional grant to stem the neighborhood's hydrogeological instability. However, in recent days, the disruption on Via Sicilia has reached such a point that the Municipality has repeatedly issued an ordinance blocking traffic between Via Sicilia and Via Fiume, requiring the constant intervention of civil protection and municipal police teams. Vehicle traffic was causing a constant surge, causing water to pour into nearby homes, causing damage and disruption. A few hours ago, the intervention could prove decisive, although unfortunately, the next heavy rain will prove decisive.
