A major operation by the Carabinieri in the countryside of Uta , where a vast cannabis cultivation consisting of approximately 30,000 plants spread across six warehouses was discovered and seized. The investigation was prompted by reports and rumors gathered in the area regarding suspicious activity in the rural area of Su Coddu . Subsequent investigations, conducted through observation and monitoring services in the area, allowed the military to precisely pinpoint the site of the plantation.
The raid involved personnel from the Cagliari Provincial Command of the Carabinieri, with the support of the Investigative Unit, soldiers from the Iglesias Company, and the Sardinia Hunters Helicopter Squadron from Abbasanta. Inside the six warehouses, the Carabinieri officers found approximately 30,000 marijuana plants, between 50 and 170 centimeters tall and in an advanced stage of maturity. During the operation, a man was also caught working in the greenhouses since the early hours of the morning. He is an unemployed 60-year-old man from the Nuoro area, known to the police. He is suspected of manufacturing narcotics. He is currently in prison in Uta.
The entire area and the plantation have been seized. The RIS officers will conduct further sampling and technical analyses to determine the quality of the marijuana.
