The violent storm surge that hit Sardinia's exposed eastern coast is leaving a trail of destruction and concern. Among the businesses most damaged is the popular restaurant "La Miniera del Pesce" in the Maddalena Spiaggia area of Capoterra, where seawater reached the restaurant, causing extensive damage.
The owner, Simone Gerina, recounts what happened with clarity and determination. He expresses his desire to start over despite the difficulties:
The storm surge penetrated the restaurant and caused extensive damage. I immediately organized repairs with the help of many friends. We've already resumed cleaning inside, but the most serious damage is outside: the waves completely tore away the surrounding wall, the garden was filled with debris and rocks, and the damage is truly significant. Despite everything, my goal is to reopen as soon as possible and resume business.
The images of the structure speak clearly: the floor submerged by water, the demolished perimeter wall, the devastated garden, and the presence of debris washed away by the sea testify to the force of the storm surge that hit the area.
Despite the difficult situation, the community's solidarity is evident, with friends and acquaintances offering concrete support to the owner to speed up the renovation work.
A sign of resilience and commitment to the local area, at a time when the entire coast of Capoterra and surrounding towns is reeling from the impact of Cyclone Harry. The Municipality also immediately took action to plan the reopening of the road and parking lots.
