For two months, they have been trapped in a construction site where not a single worker has been seen, which has led to the closure of the secondary exit to the residential area: the residents of Sector A of Torre degli Ulivi are asking the municipality to reopen the entrance, essential in case of an emergency.

As part of the coastal redevelopment project promoted by the Garau administration, the work to revitalize the road that runs alongside Casa Spadaccino and reaches the sea is still in its infancy, but it has already sparked discontent among residents. Giampaolo Agri, who lives in Sector A of Torre degli Ulivi, has repeatedly raised the issue of safety in the event of fire or other emergencies since the neighborhood's secondary exit was closed: "Three hundred families now depend on a single entrance; the other was blocked two months ago, without the work ever starting. We're not complaining that the road has been cordoned off and turned into a construction site, but it's fair to ask what the point is of blocking an exit without anyone working on it. The sign says the work should be completed by December, but clearly this is impossible. The second exit is crucial for us; the road affected by the work is very wide; we ask to be able to use at least one lane to pass."

From the minority benches, Democratic Party group leader Efisio De Muru is calling on the council to urge the company to begin work, and points out that traffic in the seaside neighborhoods has been compromised for years by the endless work carried out by ANAS: "The fears of Torre degli Ulivi residents are understandable. The neighborhood absolutely needs an alternative exit. I hope work begins as soon as possible to put an end to this inconvenience."

Silvia Sorgia, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Public Works, reassured residents: "On Monday, plate tests will be carried out on the road undergoing construction, which is essential for testing the soil, after which the planned work can begin. The dirt road that runs alongside Casa Spadaccino and extends to the sea will be paved and lit, and sidewalks and a roundabout will be built. We ask residents for a little more patience: until the work is completed, no other vehicles will be allowed to circulate in the construction area, and the secondary exit of the building will have to remain closed."
