The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Cagliari have dismantled an organization dedicated to drug trafficking between Sardinia and Northern Italy.

At present, the investigating judge of the capital's court has also ordered two precautionary measures against two people due to the risk of repeating the crime.

The investigation began with a seizure, in September 2020, of 1,220 cannabis plants attributable to a man already known to law enforcement.

From that first finding, the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit mapped a dense network of plantations distributed throughout the Sardinian hinterland, acquiring serious evidence regarding the entire supply chain: from cultivation to initial processing, up to the logistics necessary to ship the loads to the Peninsula.

The investigations allowed us to acquire elements regarding the existence of stable connections with the province of Bergamo , a privileged terminal for numerous shipments disguised as commercial packages .

According to what investigators have also ascertained, the intention of the group – which relied on “trusted” contacts and communicated through shielded devices – was to extend the distribution to other locations in Northern Italy, particularly in Piedmont.
