The Carabinieri of the Calasetta Station have identified the perpetrators of an aggravated theft committed at night at a fuel station along the State Road 126.
According to the reconstruction, they had entered the premises of the distributor after having forced the access door, removing a safe containing cash. The area, however, was equipped with a video surveillance system, whose images were crucial for the investigation.
After the investigations began, the military, supported by the results of the videos and preliminary investigative checks, finally identified the alleged perpetrators: a 40-year-old man, resident in San Giovanni Suergiu, a 33-year-old from Narcao, and a 58-year-old from Sant'Antioco, all known to the police.
During the personal and house searches, the Carabinieri found clothing compatible with that worn during the theft, burglary tools, objects stolen from the business and a sum of over 5,000 euros, believed to be the proceeds of the crime . The material was seized and kept for subsequent investigations.
During the search of the 40-year-old, a clandestine homemade pistol was also found, complete with ammunition. The man was therefore arrested and taken to the Uta district prison, by order of Uta. His two accomplices were reported to the judicial authorities.
Investigations are continuing to ascertain any further responsibilities or connections with other similar episodes.
