Moments of fear yesterday morning in Cala Mariolu ( Baunei ) where a boulder fell from the cliff surrounding the beach , breaking on the rocks. The shrapnel , caused by the impact, injured the face of a 9-year-old girl on holiday with her family in Tortolì, in Ogliastra.

The accident occurred around 10 , during an excursion to discover the coves that make the area so famous. At that moment the little girl was bathing in the crystal clear waters with her parents and little brother. One of the fragments managed to reach her cheekbone, injuring her about 1 centimeter from the eye. The alarm went off immediately: between screams and blood, the little girl was transported to San Francesco di Nuoro where she got 7 stitches. " We were scared for the eye ," admits father Marco , who in the meantime has put everything in the hands of his lawyer, Claudio Tasin . " Very serious injuries to the face are hypothesized, he risks a permanent disfigurement", explains the lawyer who will proceed with a civil compensation action because the damages could require complex surgical interventions.

Rescues were exceptional – continues the father -. Beach surveillance immediately intervened on the spot and the skippers of the dinghy warned the coast guard. Back in Cala Gonone we reached Nuoro by ambulance». But things “could have been worse. The same thing happened to a Polish woman last week. The place should be made safe and fewer people should enter. The limit of the beach – with limited numbers – is 700 people, too many».
