«A mystical amphitheater in Italy». Cala Goloritzè , the expanse of white pebbles and crystalline water in Ogliastra, on the eastern coast of Sardinia, is the most beautiful beach in the world among the 50 of The World's 50 Best Beaches of 2025.
It passes some of the most beautiful locations in the world including the Philippines, Thailand, French Polynesia and the Seychelles.
In the world rankings, another Italian beach appears in 50th place, also in Sardinia: La Pelosa di Stintino, in the Sassari area .
Cala Goloritzè, reachable only on foot through a fairly easy trekking path or by sea, but by swimming leaving the boat beyond the tarred cable 200 meters from the shoreline, won first place on the podium for "its wild beauty" that "has the power to excite from the first glance. Whether you look from above or stand on the seashore with your feet immersed in the water, the view is truly breathtaking ", we read in the motivations.
"Although the entire Baunei coastline is stunning, Cala Goloritzé stands out, in part because of its spectacular 143-meter limestone pinnacle, reminiscent of a cathedral," the statement continues. " The water here is incredibly clear and perfect for swimming, but what really sets this beach apart are the great conservation efforts that protect it . Declared a natural monument in the 1990s, Cala Goloritzé remains remarkably preserved. It's the perfect combination of unspoiled natural beauty and an unparalleled beach experience."
Praise, as mentioned, also for La Pelosa in Stintino: "Known for its beautiful shallow turquoise waters, La Pelosa is often compared to tropical beaches, despite being in the Mediterranean . The beach is protected by a shallow bay, which makes the waters calm and ideal for swimming and relaxing. Its unique location, overlooking the iconic 16th-century Torre della Pelosa and the small island of Piana, adds to its unique charm."
