She had chosen to spend the Epiphany day in the name of outdoor sports. But for a girl from Cala Gonone the day of celebration ended at the San Francesco hospital in Nuoro with a fractured ankle. The accident happened shortly before sunset today in Cala Fuili, during an excursion. Along the path the girl stumbled and was immediately rescued by some adventure companions who proceeded to alert 118.

Due to the rather impervious area, the Sassari operations center ordered the dispatch of Echo Lima 1 of the Areus that took off from the Olbia base . Having arrived on site and identified the patient, the crew was unable to recover the hiker because darkness fell exactly one minute after arriving above the point indicated by the operations center. In fact, the aircraft operates at night between pitches and sports fields but, by contract, it cannot carry out special operations during the night as, for example, happens in Piedmont.

However, at that point, the helicopter illuminated the area with its headlights, allowing the safe intervention of the ambulance personnel and the Alpine and Speleological Rescue team who recovered the patient and transported her to the Emergency Room where she underwent various instrumental tests.
