There are many of them, they move quickly. And it can't be said that they're pretty to look at. Cockroaches, some of them just starting to take off: this is what Carlo Orrù captured with his smartphone last night on Via Machiavelli, in Cagliari.

"It's happening right outside my house," he explains in the images. And then he adds: " We're being overrun, and it's getting worse."

The sidewalks, the resident explains, "are thick with dirt; they haven't been cleaned in years. The sanitization announced by the city council for August 27th has never been done . The city council is absent. Urban decorum is just talk and announcements. A disaster we don't deserve."
