«We have reduced the waste tax for domestic users by 12% compared to 2024. We have confirmed the concessions for those who rent to university students and at agreed rent: 4 million and 600 thousand euros in savings for the people of Cagliari».

Mayor Massimo Zedda assures this in light of the approval, in recent days, of the new Tari regulation

Another new feature for 2026, the mayor adds, "is the social bonus, a 25% reduction in waste tax. The discount applies automatically to the rate for families whose ISEE, according to national regulations, does not exceed €9,530, increased to €20,000 for families with at least four dependent children."

The new contract – signed yesterday – will come into force in April 2027 for a total of 7 years and 7 months, "with the improvements and additions indicated and the possibility of making long-term investments."

In addition to strengthening separate waste collection at home, Zedda assures, "Cagliari will have an enhanced manual and mechanical sweeping system, maintenance services, washing of streets, sidewalks, squares, and porticoes, emptying of waste bins, cleaning of public markets and beaches, collection of abandoned waste, and interventions related to demonstrations and events."

The following are expected:

  • increased and more intensive regular washing of sidewalks throughout the city;
  • increased sweeping and emptying of waste bins;
  • the activation of a new mobile recycling center on Via Puglia (open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week) to facilitate the disposal of dry waste and separate waste from B&Bs, holiday homes, and short-term tourist rentals;
  • the experimental doubling of the clothing collection service;
  • the financing of institutional campaigns on environmental education.
