Work on the "La Scafa" bridge, in the direction of Cagliari, along state road 195, was completed yesterday.
The work began on September 29th and, according to initial estimates, was supposed to end on October 20th. However, the needs that emerged during the operational phase led to an extension of over a month, extending the disruption until December.
The work involved a series of investigations into the bridge's structure, essential for assessing its condition and planning any future maintenance operations. To ensure the safety of the workers carrying out the inspections, it was necessary to narrow the roadway towards the capital. This was an unavoidable measure, but it had significant repercussions on daily traffic.
For more than two months, in fact, the situation was critical during rush hour: long queues formed especially in the morning, when students and workers headed to Cagliari, and in the afternoon, coinciding with the return of staff from the industrial areas of Macchiareddu and Saras.
The technical activities were concentrated in the section between approximately km 0.500 and km 2.400 and included laboratory tests and structural investigations conducted using the "by bridge" platform, an overhead platform that allowed operators to work safely even in the less accessible areas of the bridge.
Since yesterday, with the removal of the construction site, the end of a veritable daily nightmare has finally come for thousands of motorists. Traffic along the 195 has returned to normal, marking the conclusion of a complex but necessary phase to ensure the safety of the infrastructure.
