Visits to the patients of the San Michele, Businco and Microcitemico hospitals in Cagliari are prohibited by a provision issued by the general management of Arnas, the National Relief and High Specialization Company. An uneasy situation that prompted Carla Cuccu, regional councilor of the Mixed Group, to present an urgent question to the regional health councilor Mario Nieddu together with colleagues Roberto Caredda and Giovanni Antonio Satta.
"In fact - explains Cuccu - Arnas top management close the hospitals, preventing visits even to relatives with Green pass, with third dose, with negative molecular swab, in short, in possession of all those requirements introduced by national provisions and adopted for ' normalize 'the lives of citizens, destined to live with a virus that, experts say, will be endemic. In recent years and in the various' waves' of Covid and its variants - continues the secretary of the Health Commission of the Regional Council -, yes is rightly tried to preserve the hospitals which, even when the epidemiological picture in the island showed signs of retreat of the virus, have maintained the restrictions linked to the access of relatives of patients, even in hospitals such as the Oncological hospital and also for elderly patients or non self-sufficient, in need of a family and emotional presence, both as psychological and physical support. According to what was established months ago, when Arnas also established that visits to hospitalized patients were allowed to only one visitor per day, for a maximum of 15 minutes and in possession of a Green pass or molecular swab ". Provision which, Cuccu, Caredda and Satta reiterate, "must be" withdrawn immediately ".
In summoning the commissioner, among other things, he wonders if he does not consider "incomprehensible that such provisions are adopted when, according to the experts, the plateau of infections has been reached and the beginning of the downward phase of the pandemic wave. It is possible and necessary to identify paths that apply to all the companies of the regional health service, which regulate the visits of relatives (at least one per patient) in maximum safety for the same family members, for the staff of the hospitals and for that of the wards, starting from the verification of the requisites foreseen by the national provisions. Closing everything and penalizing patients, once again - concludes Cuccu - is very simple, but it cannot be the only response of the institutions in the face of the right of fragile people to have their loved ones close to them in the most difficult moments, often the last ones. of one's life ".
