Work is underway in Cagliari to complete approximately 12 kilometers of urban cycle paths on over 30 streets.
The announcement comes from Mobility Councilor Yuri Marcialis, who posted photos of the work underway on Via Cornalias on social media. "These projects don't just affect cycling," he explains. " Each project is preceded by road resurfacing and accompanied by new signage, with immediate benefits for the safety and quality of the roads used daily by motorists, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians."
Marcialis emphasizes that "A significant portion of the resources will therefore also be used to improve and secure roads that have been in need of maintenance for years. The goal is also to connect existing, currently fragmented routes , creating connections with public transport stops, the subway, schools, the university, and the main urban services."
Regarding parking, an issue that often divides residents : "The interventions are being implemented without eliminating regular parking spaces," Marcialis promises, "and they contribute to making the city safer, more accessible, and better connected for everyone, regardless of their chosen mode of transportation. A modern city doesn't pit cars, bicycles, and public transportation against each other: it integrates them and allows them to coexist as effectively as possible."
