The University of Cagliari today awarded the honorary title in memoriam for his studies to Matteo Riccobene , a third-year student of Cultural Heritage and Entertainment who died prematurely at the age of 23.
The ceremony, organized by the Humanities Student Office and the Cultural Heritage Degree Council, took place this morning in the Aula Specchi of the Faculty of Humanities. It was attended by family, friends, and professionals from the Humanities Student Office and the SIA (Service for Inclusion and Learning) office, who supported him throughout his studies, always fueled by great curiosity and dedication.
At the opening of the event, the president of the commission, Professor Fabio Pinna , retraced the process that led to the awarding of the title, strongly desired by Father Maurizio and unanimously approved by the course council on the basis of specific regulations relating to academic careers .
In his speech, medieval art history professor Andrea Pala recalled how Matteo's A+ on his exam had transformed over time into a sincere friendship, also rooted in their football fandom. He remembered Matteo's parents, Emanuela Fenu and Maurizio Riccobene, as they presented the certificate.
Matteo... a gift of love. There are beautiful moments, even if brief, that don't make a noise but leave a mark: a precious presence. Matteo was only 23, a wonderful boy, with so many dreams, projects to achieve that were suddenly and painfully interrupted. He loved the sea, football, and his studies . Matteo didn't go unnoticed in the corridors he walked, in the classrooms where he attended classes, during coffee breaks, in the offices of his SIA tutors who, with great dedication and professionalism, always lovingly supported him, recognizing his potential. Nor did his passion for the red and blues go unnoticed, which he so happily shared with Professor Pala even at the end of exams. Thank you, Matteo, thank you for your life, for your tenacity. Beauty doesn't make noise, but it leaves its mark .
