There are one hundred and fifty-four of them living in the rooms and corridors of the student house in via Businco , in Cagliari : some for a few months, others have been here for years. They divide common areas, rooms, time and a dryer , the only one on all five floors of the structure. The shifts are marked with precision, a slight delay in picking up one's laundry could unleash grudges and quarrels: so some prefer to avoid it, resorting to the traditional drying rack. Not bad, except that not everyone enjoys this possibility: « Some rooms don't have balconies », explains the student representative Michele Tidili, «and some do, but they are constantly exposed to the shade : in these cases you have to spread inside one's room , often in the hallway at the entrance».

As did Bianca Pili, deputy representative. But there are those who fared worse. Another student has the same difficulty, but his room is too small to "accommodate" even a drying rack : so he brings the laundry to his home every week, to get around the problem. Not the only one in that room, to tell the truth: right above his desk, actually two meters from the bed, a large patch of damp colored the white wall , as happened in various other areas of the building (and of course the indoor drying racks don't help). In one fell swoop, two of the most obvious criticalities of the structure add up: infiltrations and confined spaces .

«Kitchens, for example», continues Michele Tidili, «have few cabinets to keep the crockery, and for this reason it is often not possible to find them perfectly in order». Thus it happens that friction arises with the cleaning company. «A part of the groceries», explains Bianca Pili, «I kept in the closet of my room ». But in the kitchens there is not only a problem of space: in one there is no microwave, in another the plates often cause the electricity to go out, and in perfectly functional ones there is often overbooking.

Another chapter concerns the cold , especially in rooms without the previously mentioned corridor, directly exposed to the corridors: « The fixtures are dated », Bianca continues, «and need intervention. Very often they contribute to a great dispersion of heat which frustrates the heating system ». In any case, a system that can be perfected, as Michele points out: «The radiators in the rooms have three or four modules: they are not enough to heat a room , also because some of these do not receive sun all day». In reality, air conditioners have been promised, and in fact in the external parts of the house the boxes are displayed in full view, just waiting to be emptied before proceeding.

In the same way , work continues inside the structure , which currently concerns the fifth floor of the building: once completed, it will continue with the fourth and so on. But the times are not the fastest, and for those who spend entire days in the student house, living with small and big critical issues, the feeling is that every day is the same as the previous one.
