Having never really taken off since the regulation was introduced, the electric scooter rental service in Cagliari has been a bit of a flop: the long-established company Freedom Mobility Srls has decided to withdraw from the service it had won for three years in August 2023. The contract has been terminated early and the vehicles will be withdrawn by November. Only the scooters offered by Dott, which has been operating since before last summer, remain on the roads.

The suspension of the Srls arises from a decision by the director of the municipal mobility service, Pierpaolo Piastra, who acknowledges the decision communicated on September 25 by the owner, Andrea Ranieri.

He was the entrepreneur who had glimpsed enormous potential in the rental business , when strict rules had not yet been written.

Then came the traffic restrictions and the municipality also placed some barriers that, it seems, hindered the entrepreneur's progress: 115 parking spaces will now be empty.

And the company was asked by the Municipality to pay over 22 thousand euros due for the premium.
