The Santa Chiara municipal market is preparing for a new lease of life. The Cagliari administration aims to revitalize the space, located in one of the city's vibrant centers but long awaiting a new lease of life.

The Municipality is doing so through a public tender, specifically a pilot call published on its official website, with a duration of two years and the possibility of extension. The intention is to entrust, following a financial feasibility study, the entire management to private operators who will maintain the Santa Chiara market function, guarantee a solid and sustainable project, and ensure the continued existence of the two current concessionaires.

"The city's oldest market," Zedda writes, "must first and foremost fulfill its historical and local function, serving residents, thus selling mostly quality products. But there will also be room to make it attractive and competitive from a tourism and artisanal perspective."

At the end of the two-year trial, explains Carlo Serra, Councilor for Economic Development and Productive Sectors , "we'll see if the market still makes sense in that location and draw our conclusions. However, we are convinced that a civic market in the heart of Cagliari is still essential today."
