The mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu has ordered with an ordinance that near the "Unipol Domus" stadium, starting from Monday 28 August and on the occasion of the football matches that will be played in Cagliari, the sale of alcoholic beverages will be temporarily prohibited for takeaway and non-alcoholic drinks in glass containers or cans, from two hours before to two hours after the races.

The provision, reads the ordinance, "adopted among the appropriate measures to guarantee the protection of public safety, security and public order, which prevent the occurrence of dangerous situations caused by the abuse of alcohol and the improper use of glass containers and cans, even outside the stadium, refers to the matches scheduled in the Serie A championship calendar (2023-2024 season), the Coppa Italia calendar, as well as on the occasion of all the recoveries of football matches not played, foreseen by the same calendar and of all the friendlies that will be played in the stadium in the same period".

In particular, the provisions include: «The absolute prohibition of the take-away sale of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages contained in glass containers or cans; the ban on sales, for take-away, is understood to be adopted against all commercial operators and all public establishments operating, also on an itinerant basis, in the areas indicated below near the Unipol Domus Stadium: Via Pessagno from the junction road with via Campioni of Italy in via Caboto; Via San Bartolomeo from via Campioni d'Italia to via Salvatore Ferrara; Via Salvatore Ferrara from the roundabout in via San Bartolomeo up to the height of the bridge on via Caboto and in the area circumscribed by them; "Cuore" parking area and in the streets surrounding it: area included within the perimeter identified by via Vespucci, via san Bartolomeo (section via Vespucci/via ' S. Ferrara), via Ferrara (section via S. Ferrara/entrance ring old S. Elia stadium)».
