The holm oaks have been removed from Viale Cimitero, as they “conflict” with the metro works and will therefore be transferred to the municipal nursery in Corongiu .
The tree removal operation has begun and should be completed by Saturday, August 31 , barring unforeseen circumstances.
"After the installation of the Council - explains the councilor for Urban Ecology, Environment and Public Green, Luisa Giua Marassi - we made a check on the realization of the metrotramvi project by Arst and the concomitant presence in Viale Cimitero of some holm oak trees. Thanks to the intervention of the Green Service, and the necessary agronomic insights, the tree specimens will undergo the delicate operation of digging and will be transferred to the municipal nursery of Corongiu, where they will receive the necessary phytoiatric care, waiting to be able to regain a vegetative state that will allow the return to the city and the new planting in a park or in a municipal garden".
The project, explains the councilor, also includes the creation of a new green area of about 8 thousand square meters along the route of the metro-tramway . In addition to previously transplanted trees, other low-stemmed, native and drought-resistant species will be planted.
