Cagliari, the first metro tests are underway in San Saturnino. But its opening remains a mystery.
Yet another postponement for the inauguration of the station that has been ready for two yearsIt took almost two years after the completion of the works (which were due to expire in September) to see the metro trains in action testing in San Saturnino.
Testing began on Tuesday (again last night), which, for a moment, gave Cagliari residents a sigh of relief. But only for a moment. The Region updated the schedule announced in recent months ("We'll open San Saturnino by July," Transport Councilor Barbara Manca had said last winter) and postponed the inauguration once again.
But "the final schedule for the project remains unchanged," assures Transport Councilor Barbara Manca. This decision immediately reignites controversy over an infrastructure that has become a symbol of the delays associated with the light rail system. "Unfulfilled promises, the city has been waiting too long," say residents and city councilors.
For the Region, however, this is not a change of direction. The postponement does not alter the overall schedule of the project, and the ongoing tests represent a crucial step to ensure full safety before opening to passengers. The goal remains to complete all the checks required by law and obtain the necessary authorizations for operation.
