Cagliari, the center-right attacks the city council: "The city has no direction."
The opposition: "After 18 months, the balance is negative, amidst the security emergency, construction sites everywhere, and stagnation at the stadium."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
"After 18 months of administration, the council's results are overwhelmingly negative. Cagliari is a city plagued by daily emergencies—security, cleanliness, traffic, essential services —to which the administration responds with announcements, sporadic interventions, and no comprehensive strategy. Promises of change have resulted in inaction and confused management." This is what the center-right forces in Cagliari said in a joint statement.
"Security," the opposition states, "has become the primary emergency. Central and peripheral neighborhoods are increasingly unsafe, public lighting is often lacking or absent, and blackouts have been recurring for months without any structural solutions. The so-called 'red zones' have proven to be cosmetic measures, incapable of truly impacting the perception and reality of urban security."
The center-right is also attacking Palazzo Bacaredda over waste, decorum, and the TARI (waste tax). "Cagliari is a dirty city ," the minority group states, "and citizens report it every day. Inefficient waste collection, widespread degradation, completely abandoned suburbs. In the face of insufficient services, the TARI (waste tax) is increasing: up to €8 million expected in 2026, despite promises of reductions . Fines are multiplying, but the quality of service is lacking. The new waste tender is heralded as the solution, but in the meantime, the emergency remains entirely on the shoulders of citizens."
And then there is traffic, with the city "paralyzed by poorly coordinated construction sites" , support for businesses, with "no structured policy to support businesses, commerce and crafts", and culture and tourism which "proceed through one-off events".
For the center-right, the "symbol of immobility" is the new stadium project : "After months of contradictory statements, announcements, and about-faces, the project remains stalled, hostage to ideological choices and a closed-minded attitude that blocks any investment prospects."
But for the opposition, "the stadium isn't just a sports facility, but a strategic infrastructure for urban, economic, and employment development. Continuing to postpone it and failing to take responsibility means Cagliari will miss out on a historic opportunity."
Social services, housing, and the suburbs were also given a negative assessment, as were major projects, which were "stagnant and managed inconsistently."
"Cagliari," the center-right concludes, "is currently without a direction. An immediate change of pace is needed: less propaganda, more choices; fewer announcements, more results. The emergencies are there for all to see. Continuing to ignore them means condemning the city to decline."
