A tribute, a recognition, an act of gratitude to a great Sardinian artist: from today, the Auditorium of the Santa Caterina school in via Piceno in Cagliari has been named after Daniela Zedda , from Cagliari, a professional photographer since 1982 who has tried her hand above all in cultural and entertainment fields, which passed away a year ago.

A pink and white plaque, discovered by her son Riccardo and her sisters, represents the artist hidden behind the lens. Not a coincidence: it has always been difficult to meet her without the camera in hand : «I observe, I talk and I wait», she used to say before capturing the essence in each of us with her shots.

«The naming of the auditorium after a great Sardinian artist is part of an annual process, started thanks to the teaching staff to pay tribute to this great interpreter of Sardinia and beyond – began the head teacher Massimo Spiga – we participated in a photography competition, where our students brought testimony to Daniela's work, also reinterpreting her images."

The process which lasted over a year involved nursery, primary and secondary school classes, but is part of an even broader process set up by the Roman association "Female Toponymy" , but it ended yesterday with the integration of the auditorium space open not only to the educational institution, but also to citizens. "Objective? Educating respect for differences through knowledge of photographic culture", said the creator and coordinator of the project Carmen Sulis.
