In the streets despite the no from the Interior Ministry and the ban imposed by the Police Commissioner of Cagliari . The antimilitarists of " A Foras " have organised, on the occasion of Remembrance Day , a pro-Palestine procession which will parade through the streets of the city. The appointment is at 4pm, in via Sant'Alenixedda, in front of the Teatro Lirico. And from there everyone marched to Piazza Yenne.
On its Facebook page the movement explains that « we chose this date, so that as a beacon it would help us recognize discrimination, abuse, fascism and prevent a new genocide . The Government, through the Police Headquarters, would like to prevent us from doing so since the pre-announced demonstration would violate the universal value that was recognized on January 27th. The Law, however, establishes the Day of Remembrance in order to preserve in the future of Italy the memory of a tragic and dark period in history in our country and in Europe and so that similar events can never happen again. We, in compliance with this law, will take to the streets on January 27 to denounce the genocide of the Palestinian people and the violation of human rights that Israel is currently committing with the complicity of the West."
The decision was made despite the fact that the Police Headquarters rejected the request because «the pre-announced demonstration could take on connotations that are detrimental, from a formal organizational and content point of view, to the national value that the Italian Republic has attributed by law to the commemorative spirit in favor of the victims of the laws racial, as well as condemning the persecution of the Jewish people." Hence the counter-proposal to postpone the event to January 28th, from 4pm to 9pm. A possibility that "A Foras" did not accept, relaunching the appointment for this afternoon.
