Cagliari, shoplifting: the thief was stopped by three off-duty Carabinieri students.

Three off-duty students from the Carabinieri Training School in Iglesias arrested a 49-year-old man accused of theft.

It happened in Cagliari . The young soldiers were walking through the shopping streets when they noticed store clerks reporting a recent raid .

The three students immediately spotted a suspicious man who was trying to disappear into the nearby streets and immediately sprung into action, managing to stop him.

A patrol from the Provincial Command's Mobile Radio Unit then arrived on the scene and took custody of the man. As mentioned, he is a 49-year-old, homeless man already known to law enforcement.

The subsequent personal search led to the recovery of the stolen goods, which were promptly returned to the store managers.
After reconstructing the incident, the man was placed under arrest and taken to a holding cell pending trial by the judicial authorities.
