In Cagliari, in the school in Piazza Medaglia Miracolosa, in the San Michele district, the first center for children aged 0-6 is born .
The goal is to make the center a landmark for the neighborhood, where the Municipality will intervene with energy requalification works (in Piazza Medaglia itself), hydrogeological risk mitigation (in Via Campeda), in public housing, in Piazza Granatieri di Sardegna, on Via Abruzzi and in the market on Via Quirra.
The funding amounts to over 500 thousand euros over 7 years and covers an integrated project that offers educational services, recreational activities, and socializing opportunities for families and residents , including after-school hours.
"Children who attend quality nurseries and preschools," emphasized Mayor Massimo Zedda and Councilor for Education Giulia Andreozzi, "are less at risk of dropping out of school. Investing in a neighborhood with a high birth rate but also a high dropout rate is an important step that can then be replicated in other areas of the city."
The actual management of the school will therefore be complemented by additional services. Educational services, such as age-appropriate workshops or extended school hours for younger children, will also be offered, as will services for families and parents. This will be a point of reference for citizens, regardless of whether a child is enrolled in school: "Parenting support activities are among those that have emerged most from the work of the local pedagogical coordination," Andreozzi reiterated.
It's no coincidence that among the first activities for adults will be a counseling center, staffed by qualified staff, which will be operational between December and January: "An integrated project for families," the mayor continues, "which complements other interventions underway and planned for the neighborhood."
