Regarding the presence of rats and cockroaches in schools , following repeated student strikes in recent days and with some institutions still closed for disinfestation in the Cagliari area, the General Director of the Metropolitan City, Alessandro Sanna, intervenes.
"We are responding to all the institutions where the presence of mice has been reported," Sanna specifies, "trying to satisfy all requests received from the institutions within 24 hours ." "Conducting a census is impossible," Sanna continues, "as for the presence , we are at the same levels as previous years ." "As for the cockroaches ," Sanna specifies, "it is very likely that there has been an increase in reproductive activity and therefore their numbers are higher, but we are not facing an alarm situation but rather a situation that must be managed ."
Luca Locci , head of the pest control service at the Insect Control Center of the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, agrees. He explains that the presence of mice in schools is perhaps due to the high summer temperatures , which have forced the rodents to seek shelter in abandoned or closed buildings, such as schools. However, only two nests have been found so far during inspections, making them "a 'transient' presence," and therefore "it is important to pay maximum attention to waste separation , keeping doors and windows always closed," the expert clarifies.
