Thefts and dangerous obstacles in the Arnas Brotzu parking lots : concrete blocks and bollards are being moved and abandoned in traffic lanes and maneuvering areas. USB Pi Sanità is calling for immediate action, permanent anchoring, and a video surveillance system. "We can't wait for an accident to occur before taking action."
"To the ongoing thefts, an absurd and potentially very serious situation has now been added: in the parking lots of Arnas Brotzu Hospital, heavy concrete blocks and bollards are repeatedly moved from their original positions and left in the middle of traffic lanes and maneuvering spaces . This irresponsible behavior transforms a hospital area into a potential accident scene, putting workers, patients, users, and healthcare personnel at risk."
This is the harsh denunciation of Gianfranco Angioni, representative of the Usb Pi Sanità , who draws attention to a situation that cannot be underestimated or left unanswered.
We don't know who is moving these blocks or why. But one thing is certain: it's not a joke, it's not a reckless prank, and it's not a risk we can tolerate. We're talking about heavy, rigid structures that can become deadly obstacles when suddenly left in the middle of the roadway, without adequate markings, reflective elements, or dedicated lighting. At night, with reduced visibility, the danger increases even further. A sudden maneuver, a sudden stop, or an unseen obstacle can cause an accident. And for pedestrians, workers entering and leaving shifts, and those accompanying patients to the hospital, the consequences could be even more serious. It's unacceptable that, in a place dedicated to healthcare and protection, people should risk their safety even in parking lots.
Usb Pi Sanità therefore asks the General Management of Arnas Brotzu and the competent services to intervene without further delay , securing the entire affected area.
Concrete action is needed, not generic reassurances. We demand that the concrete blocks and bollards be permanently fixed and anchored, that the safety of the traffic lanes and maneuvering spaces be verified, and that an adequate video surveillance system be installed, in compliance with current legislation, to prevent further incidents and, where possible, allow the identification of those responsible.
It is unacceptable for a clear and recurring problem to be ignored until an incident occurs. Prevention must come before emergencies. Management has a duty to ensure adequate safety conditions for hospital workers and all those who access the facility for care.
The question is simple: should we wait for someone to get hurt before we intervene?
