The Oss of the Aou of Cagliari are still in turmoil.
«The serious shortages in staff numbers have now reached unacceptable numbers. Proof of the case is the failure to issue shifts for the month of June in the emergency surgery and orthopedics departments. A recurring circumstance now, precisely due to the impossibility of assigning the right number of operators in the daily and night shifts". For this reason «a state of agitation among the personnel concerned is immediately announced, which if necessary will be followed by further fighting actions, not excluding the initiation of the strike procedure».
This is what we read in a press release from the USB union, which adds: «From the examination of the programming of services for 2024, in the same departments, we have gone from 26 usable operators to 20, of which 1 has been absent for almost 2 years now, 1 for over three months, 1 with functional limitations and 5 with exemption from nights. It therefore appears clear that the remaining staff suffer from a working condition well beyond the limits of sustainability and psycho-physical stability, and that the healthcare service provided is qualitatively affected with
serious damage to the necessary care plans".
«Despite this situation, the Administration did not consider it appropriate to extend the terminated and expiring fixed-term contracts, alternatively announcing last March the intention to publish a stabilization notice. But to this day we are still waiting!
Hence the state of agitation, with the USB also underlining that «the serious working conditions of social and healthcare workers have been reported several times and are, moreover, also creating damage to their health conditions. A fact which means that if the critical issues persist, it will be forced to involve the health supervisory bodies."
In the evening the response from the AOU: «The University Hospital of Cagliari confirms what the USB knows perfectly well: the stabilization procedure will be used to fill the positions that become vacant, within the limits of the staffing capacity».
