The opposition in the city council in Cagliari asks for "clarity" on the new stadium and on the possible intervention of the Region for the realization of the project.

The request came in a question with the first signatory Francesca Ghirra, of the Progressives.

"When we asked the mayor and the council in June - reads a note from the center-left - how they intended to cover the new costs for the construction of the stadium and related works, they only spoke to us about participation in a government tender for regeneration interventions. urban, not a request to the Region ". The question therefore asks "whether it is true that a contribution of 30 million euros was requested from the Region of Sardinia to compensate for the renunciation of the shopping center, in order to guarantee the economic and financial sustainability of the project, and 15 million euros euro for the construction of public infrastructures in the area surrounding the stadium ". The center-left also wants to know when the City Council will be called to express itself on the new economic and financial plan, which person should be responsible for drafting the final and executive project of the new stadium and with what resources and how much the sums that the Municipality will be called to allocate will amount for the realization.

"Our fears, today as a few months ago, are that the Sant'Elia district is once again excluded and that, in addition to slowdowns in the redevelopment of the district, the choices made involve new obstacles to the construction of the stadium. to obtain the funds, in fact, it could take years before the works are completed - the directors conclude - and the concern is really great ".
