Cagliari, one year since the collapse of the university: now the reconstruction of the building

A year has passed since the collapse at university . Judicial investigations have yet to clarify what happened on 18 October 2022 , at 9.45pm, when a building on the humanities campus of the University of Cagliari imploded on itself.

The two floors which until 7pm were occupied by students and workers of the university collapsed, burying the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Humanities in rubble. But the University is looking ahead.

The rector Francesco Mola, on the sidelines of the Bank of Italy conference underway at the University, declared that he had set aside around eight million to spend on rebuilding the collapsed building within two years .
