Cagliari, nights of firecrackers and fireworks: "Now even under the City Hall, enough."
A now daily phenomenon, former parliamentarian Manuel Corda: "When a fire breaks out or someone gets hurt, the blame will fall on those who never intervened."San Michele, Is Mirrionis, Pirri. But also Genneruxi, Monte Urpinu, and now, the square below the City Hall offices on Via Sonnino. Any area of Cagliari is now a good place to set off fireworks.
Around midnight every day, the city can be heard firing shots accompanied by fireworks. And no, it's not about the delivery of a drug shipment, as popular legend has it. Typically, people are celebrating something, or remembering someone.
All this without any intervention from those who should be stopping this phenomenon, according to former parliamentarian Manuela Corda, after having immortalized the latest episode in the city center, which follows the previous one by only a few days.
"In this land of milk and honey, everyone does what they want," he accuses. "The day a fire breaks out or someone gets hurt, the responsibility will lie with all those institutions that didn't care. Not just those who enjoy disturbing people and setting off firecrackers in the city, without any authorization or even the slightest respect for the law. Citizens' reports have been around for years and years."
