Two years behind the latest schedule, five years behind the initial forecast. And five million euros more than the final bill. Cagliari's light rail system continues to advance, but at a pace incompatible with the impact the construction sites are having on traffic. Few workers (still none near the promenade), work is progressing slowly, and roads are occupied. Yet, " the work is proceeding substantially according to the schedule previously sent to the City," assures ARST General Manager Carlo Poledrini.

Now, however, in the middle of August, a new work front has been added (for a week): the one for the "forgotten" gas network, which will result in a narrowing of the port-side carriageway. This critical issue is fueling the dispute at Palazzo Bacaredda and, above all, raises the question: what will happen in September, when schools reopen and traffic returns to normal levels? "Chaos," explains Giuseppe Farris, councilor for CiviCa 2024. "We've reached a paradox. Construction sites are increasing, disruptions are increasing, costs are rising, but the workers remain the same and the work schedules are getting longer."

Pierluigi Mannino (FdI) also attacked the opposition, contesting the reconstruction by the central director of ARST (in short: the Municipality knew) regarding the "bureaucratic bottleneck" that slowed down the project, placing part of the responsibility on the Municipality: "The operational part is ARST's."
