With a new bulletin, the Ministry of Health has classified the Cagliari area, for today, Tuesday 30 June, and tomorrow, Wednesday 1 July 2026, with level 3 - Red Alert due to the alarm relating to the health effects of heat waves .

This is the maximum alert level, triggered for temperatures ranging from 26 to 35 degrees , with perceived highs reaching up to 36 .

The Ministry's warning system is designed to prevent the effects of heat waves on the population's health: red indicates high-risk conditions for the entire population and persist for three or more consecutive days . Currently, the alert will be upgraded to Level 1, yellow, on July 2nd.

Health and social services are also on alert.

Attached, the ministry has released a handbook with recommendations for behaviors to follow: avoid going out during the hottest hours, especially for the elderly and children, cover windows with curtains that block out light but not air, drink plenty of water, and eat fruits and vegetables.

Air conditioning, yes, but not at excessively low temperatures, no more than 5 degrees below the outside temperature . A fan? It doesn't lower the ambient temperature, only the perceived temperature. While it provides relief, it stimulates sweating and increases the risk of dehydration . Therefore, it's best to position it at a certain distance , especially for sick or bedridden people.
