He went to the police station in Cagliari to renew his residence permit, but presented a false passport. Arrest was inevitable for a 33-year-old originally from Gambia on charges of possessing false identification documents valid for travel abroad.

The man was at the counters of the Office for Immigration and Foreigners where he had to present the application for renewal of the residence permit for subordinate work.

He handed over his passport - issued by the Republic of Gambia - but the agents did not miss some anomalies. Once the checks were carried out, the counterfeiting was confirmed, and the Gambian ended up in handcuffs.
