Cagliari, flight delays and disruptions at the airport: "Passengers treated like parcels."
The complaint by regional councilor Alessandro SorgiaPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
"It is unacceptable that Sardinian citizens and travelers in transit must continue to endure humiliating treatment and constant poor service. What we witnessed last night is only the latest chapter in a daily drama called territorial continuity."
Councilor Alessandro Sorgia issued this harsh response following a series of reports received "after yet another evening of chaos and disruption" at Sardinian airports.
Last night, Sorgia reports, numerous passengers at Cagliari airport experienced hours of waiting due to a series of delays. "The situation with Ryanair's Cagliari-Pisa flight FR6100 , scheduled for 10:25 PM, was rescheduled for 11:55 PM. But the delay was compounded by the treatment of passengers on the ground: the "priority" service at the airport lounge—purchased by travelers for a fee—was abruptly terminated at 9 PM. Passengers, waiting in an overcrowded waiting room for a severely delayed flight, were literally "thrown out" due to the service's expiration."
"Regardless of the quibbles and so-called 'contractual rules'," Sorgia continues, "throwing away people who have paid for a service in this way, precisely when they need it most due to delays accumulated by airlines, demonstrates that we are light years away from the concept of airport efficiency . It's a way of managing services that does not honor those who provide it and seriously damages the image of our island."
Sorgia then points to the management of territorial continuity and the disruptions experienced in recent months, with particular reference to Aeroitalia. "We cannot turn a blind eye to what is happening with territorial continuity managed by airlines like Aeroitalia: chronic delays lasting hours, sudden cancellations that strand entire families, unannounced flight mergers, and a complete lack of assistance and communication to passengers are now unacceptable in this Republic. The Sardinians' right to mobility has been trampled upon and downgraded to a daily lottery," Sorgia denounces.
