"24-hour emergency services at risk." Cagliari firefighters will take to the streets tomorrow. Following the proclamation of a state of strike by firefighters, the Cagliari Fire Brigade's provincial secretariat (USB) has called a demonstration for tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8th, at 12:45 p.m., in front of the Prefecture in Piazza Palazzo.
The unions attack the initiative, which stems from the Cagliari Command's failure to resolve organizational issues related to guard duty coverage, which, starting October 1st, risks being guaranteed with a hybrid and discontinuous model, in conflict with the indications provided by the Office of the Head of the National Corps .
Nicola Badas , of the Cagliari Fire Department's USB provincial coordination unit, denounces "inadequate personnel management not only impacts workers, already strained by grueling shifts and increasing stress and discontent, but also inevitably impacts the stability of the public rescue service: 24-hour coverage that isn't fully guaranteed means more uncertain response times for the entire population, in a setting like the Cagliari Fire Department, which serves an entire metropolitan area. For this reason," he adds, "Cagliari Fire Department workers are taking to the streets in front of the Prefecture, demanding immediate intervention to ensure stable, safe service management that respects both the dignity of workers and the citizens' right to efficient public rescue."
