The paradox is palpable even from a distance: while the Via Roma promenade appears well-kept and tidy, the dog area turns into a small off-limits zone.
A bright, sunny Sunday, anything but autumnal, was enough to highlight a problem that beachgoers know all too well. The trash cans are overflowing with bags full of excrement, piled to the brim. Many, now without space, have been abandoned on the ground, attracting countless flies that buzz tirelessly.
With the heat, the smell becomes unbearable: the stench that spreads in the air and forces those walking to change sidewalks or to quicken their pace.
This image clashes with the rest of the meticulously maintained green space and highlights a glaring contradiction: a space designed to ensure cleanliness and safety for four-legged friends risks becoming a blemish on decor if not properly maintained.
And while on the one hand there is a request for more frequent emptying of the bins, on the other hand there is an invitation to have a minimum of civility on the part of those who use the space.
