Electric scooters for deliveries in the restricted traffic zones ( ZTLs) of Cagliari city center . This is the latest announcement from Amazon: the company now offers zero-emission deliveries in the city center's restricted traffic zones.
"Thanks to the use of small electric vehicles, which can easily navigate even the narrowest streets, these deliveries help reduce emissions and traffic, improve air quality, and increase service efficiency, while preserving the heritage of Italy's historic city centers," the multinational wrote in a statement.
"Being able to deliver with small electric vehicles in a complex urban context like Cagliari's city center allows us to make our customer service increasingly efficient while respecting the environment and the city's historical heritage," says Paolo Patrone, CEO of Amazon Italia Transport.
Cagliari's mayor, Massimo Zedda, also applauded the initiative: "The administration has long promoted sustainable and electric mobility for private individuals and businesses, shared mobility solutions, and electric vehicles. Amazon first piloted and then introduced, starting today, an electric delivery service in restricted traffic zones. This is good news for reducing noise and emissions, benefiting residents and improving city traffic."
