Twenty-five kilos of hashish, divided into 250 blocks, were seized by the finance police of the Cagliari provincial command as part of an operation that took place in the municipalities of Cagliari , Assemini , Quartu and Iglesias .
The narcotic substance, contained within 11 postal packages from Spain, had already been divided into as many shipments, ready to be delivered to supply the drug dealing hubs in the Cagliari hinterland.

The Guardia di Finanza (Fiamme Gialle) has identified a series of suspicious packages originating from Spain , destined for various individuals, all of which were identified with fictitious names, and to be delivered to various "lockers", collection points, located in the metropolitan area.

Under the coordination of the Cagliari District Anti-Mafia Directorate, during their inspections, the finance police found that the substance had been expertly packaged, divided using multiple layers of film, and vacuum-sealed. The packages had then been carefully insulated with polyurethane foam to try to elude the detection of the canine units.

Observation, control, and shadowing services were therefore set up at the locations where the shipments were to be delivered, to identify the actual recipients of the packages.

The finance police identified four Italian citizens, all residents of the metropolitan city of Cagliari, and stopped and identified them just as they went to the lockers to collect the narcotics.
