Demolition work has begun on the operating block at the Businco Oncology Hospital in Cagliari. According to the final schedule, operations and debris removal will be completed within the next 20 days.

Afterwards, another 20 days will be needed to reinforce the foundations and install the anti-seismic pillars. "By the summer," explains interim Health Councilor Alessandra Todde , "the reconstruction of the new platform, including the interior fittings, will be completed, thus respecting the PNRR timeline. We are moving forward at forced pace toward the reopening of this important healthcare facility."

The Health Department's goal is to complete this project, along with all the other projects in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) for the construction of hospitals and community centers in the Region. These projects will accelerate and optimize hospital admissions and serve disadvantaged areas suffering from a chronic shortage of general practitioners and nursing staff, a problem also experienced throughout the country.
