After a year of preparatory work, construction work on the redevelopment of Cagliari's San Benedetto market is finally getting underway.
This morning, at 10:30 a.m., the bucket began demolishing the facade of the building on Via Cocco Ortu, marking the start of the operational phase of the project . In recent months, all preliminary work was completed and interference with underground utilities, from Enel to CTM, was resolved.
"We're delighted," commented Carlo Serra, Councilor for Productive Activities. "Now the construction phase begins." According to the timetable, the new market should reopen in about a year. A historic milestone for one of the city's most anticipated projects.
Construction activities also had to take into account the high temperatures of this period, "with work schedules being adjusted in compliance with worker safety regulations. Despite this," emphasizes Yuri Marcialis, Councilor for Urban Infrastructure, "the schedule was respected , and today the demolition phase can begin, which represents a significant step in the redevelopment of one of the city's iconic landmarks."
