With an investment of approximately €100,000, the Municipality of Cagliari will make night travel on CTM buses free this summer. From next Tuesday, June 9th, until September 14th, coinciding with the school holidays, the CN ( Summer Night Circular ) bus will be tested for 83 days, departing every night at midnight from Piazza Matteotti, in front of the train station.

The fourth and final ride, scheduled for 3am, will return to the terminus at 5am, after covering a circular route of just over 36 kilometres through the entire city , including the Poetto seafront up to Bussola.

On board, security will be ensured by a security guard responsible for distributing free tickets to passengers without a CTM pass and also counting the number of passengers.

The journey time will be 120 minutes and the buses will have low floors to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.

The line will be active from Sunday to Friday , while on Saturday nights and August 14th the night lines 1N, 9N, ER and L will run , the so-called "movida service" which, however, is not free and reaches all the municipalities in the metropolitan area.

The bus route is available on the website www.ctmcagliari.it and on the Busfinder app. The main stops are: Piazza Matteotti (terminus) , Via Roma (arcades), Viale Colombo , Viale Diaz , Viale Poetto (Lungomare - Bussola), Via della Pineta , Via Scano , San Benedetto , Piazza Repubblica , Via Dante, Piazza Giovanni XXIII, Via Vesalio, Via Castiglione, Via Italia, Piazza Italia, Via Santa Maria Chiara, Via Cadello, Via Is Mirrionis, Via Peretti, Viale Sant'Avendrace, Viale Trieste, Piazza Matteotti.

«Last year we successfully tested a night service from August 1st to September 14th, carrying thousands of passengers, always in collaboration with the Municipality», recalls Fabrizio Rodin , president of the local public transport company of the Cagliari metropolitan area, who illustrated the innovation together with the director Bruno Useli .

"We realized there was a huge demand that had gone unmet until now. This summer, we'll be guaranteeing public transportation all night, with safety also thanks to on-board video surveillance."

"The right to mobility doesn't end at midnight," emphasizes City Councilor for Transportation Yuri Marcialis . "For years, we've been encouraging citizens to use public transportation, and this service encourages them to leave their cars at home and travel more safely and efficiently."

"The nighttime Circular Line reaches all the city's neighborhoods," says Mayor Massimo Zedda , who plans to fund it again next year thanks to a remaining budget for local public transport totaling approximately 380,000 euros. "It's not just for young people, but also for those who finish their night shifts: it's designed specifically as a transportation service for everyone."
